Reports from Marshal are ignored.  Marshal watches as his comrades slaughter an entire village of innocent people. Marshal flees with them northward, eventually leaving them a safe distance away. He continues west, hoping to get far enough away that he can cut south and make his way into Tepest.

In Dementlieu, the heroes are attacked by red knights wielding otherworldly, electrical batons.  They emerge through a portal created by the humming of an iron-feathered bird with two voices.  Straddling the gate is the Iron King, the long-destroyed god of the Cenobytes. 

While battling the red knights of the Iron King, Vatusia summons the Kargat through her Lament Configuration.  This is counter to Olitheros’ expectations that the Cenobytes would heed this box.

Warriors from the Island at the End of Time arrive and aid the heroes against the Iron Father.  Most leave after Markus delivers the Tiki Necklace to them.  Soon after the Tiki Necklace is gone from this time, the red knights vanish as well.  A talking baboon distributes several magical items, and explains that the Iron King seeks his people, the Cenobytes.  “Reality is crumbling,” and even dead gods can return.  If the Iron King returns, this Age will face the same fate as the previous.

The heroes aid Sithican elves against the undead and learn that Darkonese elves aided Keepers of the Veil led by Redawn Cherlys in stealing the elfin artifact the Hand of St. Sabensait.  SHADOW wants this artifact to battle the coming time of troubles, and the heroes send Stephen the Shade and Sylviana back to the Sithican elves to find a peaceful resolution.  The heroes turn westward, to Port-a-Lucine.

Stephen’s friend Chad arrives to aid the heroes, and Vatusia once again summons the Kargatane.  When the Kargatane leave, they take with them the two Radiant Knights, Guy and Sebastian.  With Chad come Master Kargrin and Cari deKebrenor.

Accumulating pages in Chilton’s collection manifest as the House of Leaves traps the heroes in a dark labyrinth.  While time travels differently in the heroes’ minds, they physically sleep through the night.  The heroes escape the house, but the minstrel Poe vanishes, leaving behind only her magical cloak.

One hundred years after Iggwilv conquered the barony of Corvia in southern Darkon, a band of elves from Ergosia locates the Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth.  The elves make their way to the “Center Hex” and battle Iggwilv’s daughter Drelzna, escaping with several artifacts.  Azalin Rex and a team of Kargat agents nearly capture the elves, but they escape into the Mists.

The Goblinslayers repay their debt to the Weathermay family.  Lord Jules does not see them, and they are sent away after a long, tense night when it seems they might be tried and executed as criminals.

Azalin Rex orders the founding of a mining operation in the Balinoks east of Corvia.  The operation is ordered to locate valuable ores which may be infused with the magical power of the earth surrounding the Caverns of Tsojcanth.  It is rumored that the Crown secretly hopes to locate side caverns overlooked by the elves whom he followed to the area the previous autumn.

Chilton returns to Garber, Falkovnia at the behest of a mysterious leader in SHADOW.  There, he finds a tomb that was missed during his father’s former investigation into the ruins there.  The spirit of Ukiles Invictus rises up and bestows an amulet upon Chilton, speaking to him in what appears to be Latin.

Alirail’s substantial payment and work for the House of Sages earns him an enchanted suit of studded leather of fortification, silver keen stiletto, and silver longsword vs. devils.  The archmagi responsible for the work on this suit is the mighty Dean Lioto Baki, a native of Kartakass.  The dark-haired magnifico devotes months of his illustrious career to it.

When the funeral is interrupted by the mad Deathangel Brode, the heroes pursue into the Mistway Nexus.  They find twelve mysterious plaques over twelve different portals; some of the portals have been destroyed but most remain active.

While in the Mistway Nexus, the heroes enter the Mist-enveloped, blood-drenched city of Avernus, Ergosia.  They return with the ghost dwarf Ragnar, who speaks of Ergosia and the elves who destroyed it.

Firfera Nesmai is contacted by the elfin Seer.  He is told that the half-elf child Alliama has been contacted by the ancient elf king Thiondar.  Since the child’s mother has turned her back on her heritage, Nesmai is ordered to collect the child and follow her to Thiondar.  This puts Nesmai at odds with the elfin Amaellon Court, though he will not realize it until much later.

Vatusia Lang meets Jilla Maywen for the first time in Leudendorf, Lamordia.  Jillas speaks with Vatusia about the nature of the dreamscape.

The heroes explore the raided vault of Hamstein, Lamordia.  While there, they find Mellesindra’s Bust, the hand of Ukiles Invictus, and several other items including a bizarre six-shot pistol.  The heroes also find a collection of Falkovnian and pre-Falkovnian relics, a harpsichord and globe, a talking Tiki head, a map charting the course of River Styx, and an amulet that bombards Morgan’s mind with advise from voices that sound similar to his friends’.

The heroes slay moost of a band of crypt rangers and narrowly manage to retrieve the hand of Ukiles Invictus before it is devoured by the Darkonese Night.  The crypt rangers state that the Council of Crypt Rangers is now led by a woman named Fiona, who looks just like Vatusia Lang.

Firfera Nesmai attacks the Enclave in eastern Darkon, looking for Alliama.  The child escapes him by obeying the voice of Alliana in her head.

Alirail arrives in Hamstein, Lamordia with Vahn Obelleim.  With a team of workmen, they crate up the contents of the Hamstein Vault in order to take that cargo to the location where they will construct the Vault north of Kovek, Lamordia.

Chilton AnDearg finds a mysterious tome that tells the story of Talamalani and Dayalima, up to and including Runa Skule and Chiliton.  Runa and Chilton bond over this volume and admit their feelings for one another.

Alirail, Serio and Yuri accompany Vahn Obelleim to a spot north of Kovek but safely west of the fluctuating Darkonese border.  There, a magical pine cone is used to dig the shaft that will become the Vault.  Work begins immediately creating both the levels of the Vault and the traps that will defend it.

The Faceless Man approaches Chaderick Taelon, Stephen the Shade and their band of heroes.  He tells them of the Vigilant Delane Bregis, imprisoned in Falkovnia.  The heroes travel south, freeing Bregis and retreating back to Darkon with him.

Teym Bret Paeh arrives in Kirablis, Darkon, to oversee the completion and grand opening of his tavern, the Black Gate Tavern.

The heroes enter the Forest of Shadows with Darius and Keradre’s daughter Alliama, aided by the ghost of Alianna.  They seek Thiondar’s legacy.

The Black Gate Tavern opens in southern Kirablis, Darkon.  It is the site of a gate to the House of Twelve Doors, the Mistway Nexus, and is under the ownership of one Teym Bret Paeh, an anagram for Haemer B. Petty.  The Black Gate quickly becomes the favored watering hole for those who feel somewhat out of place at the Sleeping Dragon Inn, including many of Commander Jergen Ridge’s men.

Stephen the Shade brings the Vigilant Delane Bregis to Walker’s General Store in Kirablis.  The Goblinslayers agree to safeguard the man.  He is taken to the Enclave, where he will train some men in the ways of the Vigilants of his domain: Ghelspad.

The heroes puzzle out the codes of the scriturra delivered to Markus Valorn on the day of his wedding.  The code contains the secret name of the minotaur Markus named Marcel as a child.  It also answers the question, When is a minotaur not a minotaur?  In this case, the answer seems to be, When it is the demon prince, Baphomet.

The heroes learn that two of their number, Chilton AnDearg and Mikhail Zuffenoft, have left them in order to pursue a means to defeat the Ascension.  Through Chilton’s letters, it becomes evident that they have gone to work with Fiona, and her side of SHADOW.

Jeremiah provides information to Vatusia regarding the House of Twelve Doors, compiled by Livryth Wroht.  Master Wroht has also compiled information on prophecies of the end times, as request by Vatusia.  In addition, Jeremiah delivers a preliminary report from the Katerina regarding a Mistway to the domain of Rokushima Tayoo, off the Sea of Sorrows.

A letter arrives for Morgan in Kirablis.  It is from a Mordentish academician with ties to the House of Sages.  His name is Robert Grates, and he hopes to set the record straight on the Abados and the heroes’ involvement at the end of the Great Upheaval.

The heroes find an old vault of SHADOW’s in the Boglands of Darkon, east of Viaki.  Though a forge was removed some time earlier—by crypt rangers working in tandem with blademasters—crates remain with large pieces of blue coral.  These pieces of coral bear writings in no known language.  Also in the vault is a missive for the Lady Isette detailing a secret weapon of Kadum’s, buried somewhere in Darkon.

An Edict from the Iron Crown arrives at Abira Manor.  It proclaims that the heroes will travel to the Caverns of Tsojcanth on a threefold mission.  They will locate any items belonging to the archmage Iggwilv, they will locate and deal with any extra-planar entitities sl within the Caverns, and they will search for information on the identity and disposition of the entity known as “Tsojcanth.”

Markus Valorn enters the dreams of his son Kyler.  There, he encounters the celestial entity who has been speaking Latin through his son’s lips at night.  The entity states that he will meet with Markus and speak with him, “Near the Heart of the Horn.”

Kalromen, bolstered by Darius, Vatusia, and Tan, attempts to conjure a window into the Mists to locate Alirail’s missing love, Dryn.  The prayer fails to locate her.

The Goblinslayers ride out of Kirablis in a procession that boosts morale among those who still revere them.  The procession takes them through Rivalis, and then on to Corvia.

Duncan Anders and his band of allies captures Blaine Trundle from the town of East Point, Darkon, one day east of Il Aluk.  Acting on orders from their superiors in SHADOW, they leave the radiant knights behind and leaderless, taking Blaine to the nearest safehouse for questioning.

The Goblinslayers arrive in Corvia.  Keradre rejoins the group with information on Tsojcanth and a bit about Iggwilv, garnered from the library of Thiondar.  With this information, Kierin and Alirail are able to gather still more information from the people of Corvia.

The Goblinslayers arrive at the mining settlement of Steddegar’s Hole, established by the Iron Crown in 742 to further explore the area surrounding the Caverns of Tsojcanth.

The Goblinslayers delves deeper into the Caverns of Tsojcanth than even the elves of Ergosia had.  In the Heart of the Horn they locate Iggwilv’s lost laboratories, and the prison of the demon Tsojcanth.  The heroes narrowly manage to defeat Tsojcanth, destroying his corporeal form before he can flee.

A Dementlieuese man named Gaston Menthe seeks sanctuary at the Enclave.  The man claims to have buried a man in a grave marked “Inajira” years earlier.  Since that time he has been chased relentlessly by half-seen enemies.  The Enclave welcomes Gaston and offers him solace.

Keradre returns home to Ravenesh Kesir.  She meets with her mother and finds no forgiveness among her family members.  Keradre has been blamed for much of the carnage and pain that still exists in the elfin wood, even ten years after the end of the Great Upheaval.

Cadyr arrives at the Enclave.  While he remains on the outskirts of the settlement, he develops a kinship with the Vigilant Bregis, a friendship that is heartily encouraged by Kalromen and Darius.

Teodorus Reines escapes his cell in Nevuchar Springs after a decade of incarceration.  The heroes, especially Crispin Genn, attempt to find the anchorite, but they are unable to locate him.

The High Patriarch of the Olde Faith, Arthur Tully, comes to the Enclave and meets with Darius,  The Patriarch explains that the faithful are gathering around Mount Nyd, to the south.  The sons of the Father have reawakened in order to battle the lingering evils of the Age of Magic.  The Enclave is to be a waystation on the road south, to protect travelers from the horrors of the Night, and to help prepare them for the rigors of entering former Arak.

The heroes lead a garrison to Guidio’s Fort.  Sinjin assumes command over a force of Dawnblade, Keepers, Letheans and Monks of Melchizedek.

While investigating the Hill outside Guidio’s Fort, the heroes trigger a battle with Craven Treditious, the leader of the Horned Harbingers.  In the wake of this battle, the heroes realize that they have stumbled upon and slain a member of Fiona Lang’s Circle.  In the priest’s sanctum are documents mentioning Fiona’s plans, and evidence that Fiona seeks to preserve the domain of Darkon in the face of the coming Ascension.
